The Philippines is my birth country and where I am currently living. So, I am admittedly biased to say my favorite food moments in Southeast Asia all came from around the islands. Here are my top 5 food moments in the Philippines:
Buko Juice, aka Coconut Juice
A perfect refreshment between island hopping full of electrolytes. Coconut water, known in the Philippines as “buko juice” is trimmed as a bowl to drink. The locals then cut up the coconut, shave a scooper, and you can enjoy the nutritious coconut meat
Durian of Davao
My favorite fruit of 2016. Durian tasting to discover my preferred varieties. At Abreeza Mall in Davao City, you can purchase and eat the fruits in their outdoor fruit market. Read more about the fruits and foods of Davao here

Abreeza Ayala Business Park

Kinilaw na Tanigue in Manila
Philippine style ceviche of tanigue belly, a local white fish. Washed in palm vinegar, coconut milk, and chilis. This is one of my favorite Filipino cuisine appetizers. The acidity, spice, and freshness awaken your palate and open up your appetite. Read more about Filipino cuisine in Manila here

Kinilaw in Boracay
My favorite appetizer beautifully plated in Shangri-La Boracay. The resort’s version, which can be enjoyed at the Sirena restaurant, includes a variety of garnishes to customize the taste according to your preferences. Read more about dining at the resort here
Bibingka in Boracay
While I (mostly) try to watch my carb intake, I can over-indulge in these little bibingka cakes. One of the best bibingkas I have tasted in the Philippines. These light, fluffy, and crispy edged little cakes can be savored during the resort’s epic breakfast buffet
