Hong Kong Airport Transportation By Bus, Shuttle, Taxi, and Uber.

Hong Kong is one of the easiest cities around the world to get around and find your way because of the range of public transportation and its English-friendly signs. Here is a guide to Hong Kong Airport Transportation to get to the city:

Hong Kong Airport to the City: By Airport Express

The Airport Express is the most popular, most efficient, and fastest way to get to the city from the airport. For around 100 HKD, you can get to Tsing Yi Station, Kowloon Station, and Hong Kong Station in a mere 24 minutes. This is best for those staying within the stations, connecting to the free hotel shuttles at the stations, or connecting to the MTR lines.

Hong Kong Airport to the City: By Bus

For those on a tight budget, buses from the airport are the best option costing under 50 HKD to get you to the city in over an hour. Buses are only recommended if they stop right next to your hotel so you do not have to lug your luggage. See the list of buses and destinations.

Hong Kong Airport to the City: By Shuttle

If you want to be dropped off right at your hotel, the Airport Shuttle provides that service for less than 200 HKD. You must pre-book the seats ahead of time and find the customer service desk (labeled Vigor) at the Arrivals Hall. The journey takes over an hour to the city, like a public bus, because you pay for the convenience of the hotel drop-off.

Hong Kong Airport to the City: By Taxi

For spontaneous plans to get to the city and directly to your destination, taxis are prolific at the airport. Because of its direct drive, expect to spend a few hundred Hong Kong dollars for a 30 to 60-minute drive to the city, depending on traffic.

Note that there are 3 colors of taxis in Hong Kong: 1) Red taxis take you to Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin, and Tseung Kwan O; 2) Blue taxis take you around Lantau Island, the island of the airport, for Tung Chung, Discovery Bay, Disney, etc; and 3) Green taxis take you to New Territories.

Hong Kong Airport to the City: By Uber

For a more comfortable journey to the city at slightly higher prices than taxis, call an Uber. In Hong Kong, you can book 5 types of Ubers: 1) Uber Flash for the closest taxi or UberX; 2) UberX for a smaller car fitting 1 to 4 passengers with small carry-on bags; 3) Uber Black for a luxury sedan, sports car, or van; 4) UberXL for vans fitting up to 6 passengers which are recommended from the airport with your luggage; and 5) Uber Assist for those in need, specifically with disabilities, elderly, or pregnant.
