All About Hong Kong Park
In what used to be the former barracks of the 1800s, Hong Kong Park opened in 1991 covering a span of 8 hectares, or 80,000 square meters.
This massive park is not like other cities like Manhattan or London with their long stretches of grass to layout and have a picnic. Rather, the park proudly offers gorgeous walkways, pristine landscaping, trees, flowers, ponds, a man-made lake, a waterfall, an aviary with over 80 species of birds in a tropical “rainforest”, a greenhouse, a tea museum, an arts centre, a marriage registry, and a multi-level playground. And there are still benches on which you can also enjoy an afternoon picnic.
The park is truly an oasis in the heart of Central which is known as the financial hub of the city with major luxury brands for high-end shopping. And yet this park is literally a breath of fresh air in how the natural landscaping blends in beautifully with the modern city skyscrapers.
