Eating & Dining Highlights in Marunouchi, Tokyo

A Taste of Everything in Marunouchi

Marunouchi is Tokyo’s financial district. That means some of the best restaurants in the city are located here to serve the corporate office workers and their clients. There is certainly no shortage of excellent eats in Marunouchi at all hours of the day.

Quick Bites in the Tokyo Station

Many countries in the world have their fast food culture overloaded with junk food. Japan has a “fast food” culture consisting of amazing sushi and comforting bowls of ramen. Real, quality, unprocessed food that is served and slurped up in minutes.

A quick bite of sushi at Standing Sushi Bar in Tokyo Station. Why not take a brief break during your day for a few bites of sushi? Standing Sushi Bar is the place to pop in a few pieces of sushi and move on to your next destination (which can even be a bowl of ramen to follow)
Tsukumen at the famous Rokurinsha ramen at Tokyo Station. In Tokyo Station’s Ramen Street there are 8 ramen shops, and this one always has a line. If you are hungry and want a filling and satisfying bowl of noodles, Rokurinsha is your destination. Read more about Ramen Street here

Classic Japanese Meals in Marunouchi

When in Japan, indulge in all the Japanese cuisine. In foreign countries, most Japanese restaurants tend to offer everything on the menu. In Japan, each Japanese restaurant specializes in one main area – for instance, ramen shops, tempura bars, yakitori restaurants, sukiyaki restaurants. And this is why eating in Japan is non-stop to attempt to eat in as many of these specialty restaurants as possible.

Grilled chicken wings at Tori Kansuke. The restaurant specializes in chicken dishes, particularly grilled chicken parts and fried chicken. There is also an emphasis on food and beverage pairing, with local craft beers, sakes, and wines. Read more about Tori Kansuke here
A beautiful plate of beef for sukiyaki at Moritaya. The branch comes from Kyoto and serves sukiyaki Kansai-style using less sauce to caramelize the beef as opposed to the Kanto (Tokyo) style of simmering the meat in liquid

Western Favorites in Marunouchi

It is not only Japanese cuisine that is perfected in Japan, you can even have the most amazing international cuisines. Over the years, the Japanese have learned from the best cuisines and restaurants around the world and serve it to locals as everyday eats, including name-brand establishments like New York’s Shake Shack.

Shake Shack! There is no competition – Shake Shack makes the best fast casual burgers in the U.S., and now there are 3 locations in Tokyo. This branch lies on the edge of Marunouchi, next to Yurakucho and near Ginza. Read more about Shake Shack Japan here
One of the best pizzas in Marunouchi located in the basement floor of the Palace Hotel. Serafina makes classic Italian pizzas and pasta. The Neapolitan pizzas come out of the oven in mere minutes with that perfectly charred and chewy crust. Read more about Serafina here
Echire is one of the best brands of butter in France. Here in Tokyo, you can not only buy the butter but you can also buy these amazing, melt-in-your-mouth croissants at the Echire shop. The croissants typically sell out by noon; so plan to go as soon as it opens
