Insider travel tip: Kuala Lumpur is a big, busy, chaotic city. Be mentally prepared for the traffic and crowds of cars and people. Plan your itinerary with cushion time for this traffic, most especially during morning and afternoon rush hour.
Also, if you plan to visit mosques and religious sites in the country, keep in mind that you will have to remove your shoes and possibly cover up parts of your body to abide by the respective rules of the religion and culture. If you have a guide, he or she will advise you accordingly.
