Arrivals and Departures from Guam International Airport.
Flying in and out of a new destination can bring questions of the unknown especially for those that want to be mentally prepared. Here is a short guide to arrivals and departures from Guam International Airport:
Arriving at Guam International Airport
Upon exiting the airplane, head for Immigration where you will undergo the standard U.S. TSA interview in which you will be asked questions such as, “Why are you here?” and “How long are you staying?”
Assuming all goes well with your interview and official entry stamp into the U.S. territory, you can head to Baggage Claim to get your luggage. Then, proceed to Customs where you will submit the completed customs form which you received on the airplane. The officer may ask you questions or may ask to scan your luggage.
Afterward, you can exit to the Arrivals Halls where you will find your greeter or hail your taxi. The drive takes about 15-20 minutes to the central beach resort area.
Departing from Guam International Airport
For departures, check-in counters are located on the ground floor of the airport. After checking-in your luggage and receiving your boarding pass, you can proceed upstairs to Security.
As Guam is a U.S. territory, you can expect similar security procedures as the states, in that you are required to take off shoes and take electronics and liquids.
Also, like in the states, there is no exit immigration counter for international departures. After security, you are in the departures area where you can head to the lounge, boarding gate, and shop for souvenirs, including local products like Chamorro Chip Cookies.
