Easy Shrimp Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients
makes 1 sandwich

  • 5-6 Peeled shrimps
  • 1 portion of a soft baguette or sliced sourdough
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced>
  • Parsley, or a dried herb like thyme
  • 1/2 Roma tomato, sliced thinly
  • 1 Tablespoon Japanese mayonnaise
  • Pinches of salt & pepper to taste
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Lemon wedge (optional)

Easy Shrimp Sandwich Recipe1. If you have frozen peeled shrimp, thaw about 5 to 6 pieces by placing them in a small bowl and soaking in tap water until soft. Fill a pot that can fit your steam basket with about 1 inch of water. Place the thawed shrimps in the steam basket and place that in the pot. Cover and turn the heat to high. Once steam begins to seep out of the cover, cook the shrimp for 2 minutes.

Easy Shrimp Sandwich Recipe4. Slice your baguette or layout the slices of sourdough. Evenly distribute the garlic spread onto the two open sides of bread. Place the bread on a quarter sheet pan. Toast the bread in a toaster oven on the highest heat for about 3 to 4 minutes or until the edges are just about golden brown.

Easy Shrimp Sandwich Recipe5. While the bread toasts in the oven, get the sliced tomatoes ready. Then, add Japanese mayonnaise, a pinch of salt, and a smaller pinch of sugar to the cooled shrimps. Mix in well.

6. When the bread is ready from the toaster oven, place the sliced tomatoes evenly on the bottom bread. Tomatoes add a freshness to the sandwich and act as a protective layer from the creamy filling.

While some people prefer to really stack up the filling of a sandwich, do not double stack the shrimps as they will just end up falling out each time you bite into the sandwich. Plus, this amount of shrimp in the sandwich perfectly balances and does not drown out the taste of the garlic bread.
