Best Buffet in Hong Kong: Clipper Lounge Dinner Buffet

5-Star Dinner Buffet at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s luxury hotels each proudly have their signature buffets for hotel guests and locals. With all that competition, the restaurants must have something stellar to stand out. At the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, the Clipper Lounge dinner buffet truly shines with their amazing high-quality spread of premium dishes.

Clipper Lounge Dinner Buffet Experience

The dinner buffet spread at the Clipper Lounge features the stations you would typically expect from a premium buffet, and so much more.

In the cold dish stations, standouts include the premium sashimi spread particularly the gorgeously marbled salmon and sweet little amaebi shrimps. Then, there is the amazing cold seafood selection featuring snow crab legs, lobster, abalone, and more. If you are an oyster lover, you can get your monies worth from the quality and variety of oysters that are constantly replenished.

Every season, some hot dishes and stations change accordingly. For instance, this summer the noodle station serves hot Thai noodle soup and there is also a handmade summer rolls station making fresh spring rolls.

For the hot dishes and main entrees, the standout dishes include a steamed whole grouper which is one of the signature (and pricey) dishes from the Man Wah. This is a must-have to taste the succulent meat of the fish and how it is perfectly steamed and full of flavor.

Then, there is the Hainan chicken station. Across the hall, this Hainan chicken is the most popular dish at Cafe Causette, and now you can have it unlimited at the Clipper Lounge buffet. Finally, the carvery station has a whole prime rib and roast lamb leg. Anything “roast” from the Mandarin will surely be excellent

For dessert, you can start, or end, with the cheeses at the bread station. Be sure to find the truffle honey to drizzle that over your cheese. You must save room for dessert as it has greatly improved showcasing the most popular items from the Cake Shop, like their signature cheesecake. And for ice cream fans, there is a nice display and selection of freshly scooped ice cream with sundae toppings. Lastly, there is such a drool-worthy spread of chocolates – warm molten chocolate pudding, chocolate cakes and brownies, chocolate truffles, and chocolate bars.

Food Photos from a Dinner at the Clipper Lounge

Plate 1 of the night. Sashimi and sushi to start the night. Must-haves include the salmon sashimi (check out that marbling that melts in your mouth!) and the sweet little shrimps that get even sweet with a little dab of soy sauce.

Plate 2. Oysters! With a little taste of shrimp cocktail and abalone on the side. Currently, the buffet features 3 types of oysters from France and Ireland. Try them each and find out which one is your favorite.

Plate 3. The start of the hot dishes featuring the best steamed fish. The whole fish costs well over $100 USD up in Man Wah, so to have it here is such a great value and a wonderful reason to indulge in this buffet.

Plate 4. Hainan chicken rice. Another reason to come to this buffet! This chicken is one of the most sought after dishes from Cafe Causette, and now you can have all you want here at the Clipper Lounge. It is so deliciously succulent and full of flavor.

Plate 5. Cheese with truffle honey, Prosciutto San Daniele, molten chocolate pudding, and chocolate truffles and a chocolate bar from the Cake Shop. All so premium, all so delicious, all so worth the price of the buffet.
