A Must Try! Centre the Bakery in Ginza.
Bread lovers & Toast fans, head straight to Centre the Bakery in Ginza for the most fun and delicious bread and toast experience.
About Centre the Bakery & La Cantine
Centre the Bakery is located on the edge of Ginza near the Tokyo International Forum. It is the sister bakery of Viron bakery, a popular French bakery and bistro in Shibuya and Marunouchi.
Centre the Bakery specializes in white toast with flours from Hokkaido, the UK, and the US.
You can easily find it by spotting the perennially long lines out the door. There are two lines: one on the right for the bakery where you can buy fresh loaves of bread and another on the left for La Cantine to dine in the cafe.
La Cantine is a great place for lunch or an afternoon snack. The menu offers soup, salads, and an extensive sandwich list as well as French toast, cheese toast, croque madame, and more. For sandwiches served without the crust, you will be given the crusts which have been lightly toasted in a cup. You can further toast the crusts in the store’s designated crust toaster.
On the menu, you will note that every item specifies which bread will be served: JP for Japanese, NA for the US, and EB for the UK. There is also a dinner menu that serves hot entree and bread (but no toast at night).
