Flying from Manila to Narita on ANA Business Class.

All Nippon Airways consistently ranks in the top lists of best airlines in the world. The airline flies to many major ports around the world, including Manila. While the ANA seats for Manila flights are not the premium business class sleepers, the cabin still beats the competition with its spaciousness and cleanliness. Here is a review of ANA Business Class, MNL to NRT:

Terminal 3 Check-In, Immigration, Security

Check-in procedures for All Nippon Airways in Manila start at Terminal 3. On most days, the check-in, immigration, and security process have shorter lines compared to other airports. That means you can arrive at the airport between 1 hour to 1.5 hours before your flight time.
 

Lounge & Boarding Gate

The ANA Lounge in Manila is a shared lounge with other airlines. It is not the cleanest nor most spacious; rather, it feels outdated and cramped with food offerings leaving much to be desired. Instead, you can wait at the boarding gate where the airline provides a designated area for Business Class passengers.

The Seat

ANA Business Class from Manila to Narita offers the ANA Business Cradle configuration with cradle-style seats. These do not lie flat and it is a 2-2-2 layout which means you will likely sit next to someone. The consolation is the spaciousness and cleanliness of the cabin which are not the same on competing airlines, especially other direct flights.

Seat 2H in Business Class. Take note that Row 1 does not have televisions in front of their seats, and you must wait until after takeoff to flip up the television from under the side console. If you are a frequent bathroom user, choose an aisle seat so you do not have to climb over your neighbor.

 

The Amenities

The airline provides Business Class passengers with the usual pillow and blanket on their seats. In the magazine compartment, you will find your headset and airplane slippers. It is in Japanese culture to take off your shoes in the plane and where these slippers, much like the locals do when they enter a home. This keeps the cabin carpet cleaner than other airlines.

Flight attendants will either offer a basket of more amenities or you will find it in the galley. That basket has eye masks, earplugs, wet tissues, toothbrushes, and mouthwash.
 

The Meal Service

ANA offers Business Class passengers the option of a Japanese meal or Western meal during the 4-hour flight from Manila to Narita. You will place your order before takeoff. After takeoff, the drink cart comes around with Japanese rice crackers. Shortly after, your lunch or dinner is then served. The taste of the meals are not the best in the sky, but decent enough to satisfy your hunger until you arrive in Japan.

Rice crackers, sake, and water. The drink selection offers a few options for sparkling wine, white wine, and red wine. There is also a premium sake, shochu, and hard liquors as well as beers and non-alcoholic options. If you like these rice crackers, don’t hesitate to ask for a second!

 

ANA Business Class
The meal selection changes each month and it usually offers a seafood or meat option. This is the Japanese meal from October 2019 with baked salmon. It comes with a variety of cold appetizers, miso soup, and steamed rice in the paper pouch.

This is the Japanese meal from September 2019. It is sukiyaki-style beef. Every Japanese meal comes with the two plates of cold appetizers, miso soup, and the pouch of rice. Dessert for Manila to Narita will usually be a little cup of ice cream.

 

The coffee with a generous splash of milk. Compared to other airlines, ANA has better tasting brewed coffee that is actually strong tasting – it delicious both black or with milk. You can also choose to have a cup from the pot of green tea.
