Activities & Things To Do in Guam
Guam is a small island that is perfect for a long weekend getaway. In 3 or 4 nights, you can explore the island and make the most of your time. Here are 8 things to do in Guam:
1. Guam Museum
First things first, learn about the island! The Guam Museum is the best place to discover the island’s fascinating past and highly recommended for history and culture-seeking travelers. The museum is open daily from 10am to 4pm and general admission fee costs $20.00 USD.
2. Beach Time
You flew all the way to Guam, an incredible island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, so you have to hit the beach! Tumon is the most popular area where the major luxury beach resorts have their own beachfront properties. You can also go around the island to discover the local beaches.
3. Rent a Car
As the island is not large, consider renting a car so you can drive around and explore the whole region at your leisure. Plus, you will be able to go to all the sights that you want to see as well as the more local restaurants that are farther away from your hotel. You can book a rental car ahead of time or via your hotel’s concierge.
4. Shop!
If you are a shopping-focused traveler, Guam will certainly satisfy your wants and needs featuring a range of stores including DFS Guam Galleria, international luxury brands along The Plaza, and even Guam Premier Outlets.
5. Sightseeing
As a U.S. territory, Guam had and has a significant military presence which has left more than a doze of World War II sites all around the island. You can hike up to some sites or spend a leisurely afternoon at the national parks.
6. Take a Hike
For outdoor fans, the island offers plenty of options for hikes with varying degrees of difficulty to see waterfalls, mountains, caves, and World War II sites. Be sure to bring water and sunscreen!
7. Chamorro Village
If you are in town on a Wednesday night, head over to the Chamorro Village for the island’s weekly night market featuring local eats and cultural festivities. This is a great place to take in and taste the local culture.
8. Sunset Boat Ride & Dolphins
If the weather is good, book a sunset cruise (through your hotel’s concierge) to enjoy dinner, drinks, and dolphin sighting! The boat ride takes you around the southern parts of the island where you can witness dolphins jumping around and even try your hand at fishing.
