Reviewing The Club: SJC All Nippon Airways Lounge.

Outside of an airline’s home base airport, lounges can be hit or miss when it comes to the spaciousness, the cleanliness, and the quality of food offerings. For ANA passengers departing from San Jose, California, The Club offers a good lounge for the US and a decent lounge when compared to those in Haneda and Narita. Here is a review of the SJC All Nippon Airways Lounge:

The Club at SJC

The Club at SJC is the designated lounge for All Nippon Airways passengers on Business Class and Premium Economy. ANA Diamond and Platinum members, as well as Star Alliance Gold members, are also invited along with one guest on the same flight.

Entry to The Club

The lounge is located right across Terminal A’s Gate 15 which is the boarding gate for the outgoing ANA flight. You can access the lounge by elevator or stairs that lead you directly to the reception desk where you will show her your boarding pass as proof of lounge entry. Guests can enter the lounge up to 3 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure.

There may be other passengers standing by at the entryway. These are Priority Pass and Day Pass guests on the waitlist if the lounge is crowded. Don’t worry about them – so long as your ticket allows you lounge access you will be automatically granted entry.

Lounge Area

The lounge accommodates up to 128 people with a choice of seats and small tables spread out throughout a few open rooms as well as computers and printers in a small workstation. There are also showers available for those wanting to freshen up before the flight. The bathrooms are nothing outstanding or as clean as those in Japan’s airports.

Food & Drink

Lounge guests can enjoy complimentary food and beverage for breakfast, lunch, mid-day snacks, and dinner. Food includes finger sandwiches, wraps, cheese and crackers, salad, cold pasta, instant ramen, soup, and desserts. You can also nibble on popcorn, pretzels, jelly beans, granola bars, chips, and cookies. If you are flying domestic without meal service, you can stock up on snacks prior to boarding.

There is a typical selection of drinks including bottled water, juices, sodas, milk, and a full bar with bartender service. The bar offers beers on tap, bottled beers, a decent selection of wines by the glass, as well as hard spirits and liquor.

Overall Review of The Club at SJC

Overall The Club at SJC is a good lounge because of its availability of seats, its cleanliness, and the full bar with friendly bartender service. Compared to the ANA lounges in Japan, this is nothing extra special but it is way more decent and newer than the lounge in SFO.

Before the ANA flight, the lounge does become rather crowded and you will likely have to sit right next to people. The food isn’t great but based on reviews it is better than other lounges in other airports around the U.S. If you are flying ANA, save your appetite for the multiple in-flight meals.

Bottom line: The Club at SJC is a decent lounge worth visiting if you have free-entry based on your ticket or club membership. Do not expect a delicious spread of food, but you can enjoy a tasty complimentary beverage before boarding your flight.
