Roxie, One of Copenhagen’s Best New Restaurants

Reviewing Copenhagen’s Newest Restaurant

Copenhagen food scene continues to rise and buzz with all the hotspots and Michelin-rated restaurants. Then, there are the newcomers, like Roxie, that are opening up and ready to challenge the competition.

About Roxie

Roxie is one of the city’s newest restaurants in the brand new Hotel Herman K. The kitchen team hails from the Michelin-rated Kadeau and proudly serves their Modern Nordic cuisine in a casually cool and trendy vibe. The food is delicious and beautifully crafted while the atmosphere and service are completely relaxed.

Nibble on the Nibbles

At Roxie, you can simply have drinks and small plates or an entire meal. You can easily and happily fill up on all their scrumptious little nibbles which pair perfectly with their crafted cocktails and wine list.

Start with the drinks, like this Sorrel Sour. If you like drinks, you must start with their cocktails. Perfectly balanced and not at all overly sweet. You cannot go wrong with any of the choices
Fried Baltic prawns with yeast emulsion and herb oil. One of the best of their nibbles. These little shrimps are so plump, clean tasting, and perfectly fried without overcooking the flesh inside or hardening the shell on the outside
Chicken liver parfait with grilled bread. This could be one of the best chicken pate spreads that will ever melt luxuriously away on your tongue. A must order when you dine at Roxie!
Crispy Roxie “Bhaji’s” with miso and chive flowers. This is the kitchen’s version of the Indian bhaji consisting of fried onions. Another great nibble that is made to be eaten with drinks
Pork cracklings with fermented mushroom powder. Not a highlight of the nibbles as the crackling itself could have been crisper and the dip that came with the cracklings was too subtle and not enhancing the flavor the pork

A La Carte or Tasting Menu

If you are hungrier for more than nibbles, the menu offers various plate sizes – Small, Medium, and Large. You can create your own dinner courses or choose the “Roxie” menu which the kitchen’s 10-course tasting menu.

Hand-dived Norwegian scallops, new baby salads, leek flowers and sauce made from browned butter and miso. If you love scallops, you must try this dish. The scallop itself is to fresh, sweet, and tender and the accompaniments on the plate perfect complement the scallop
Roxie’s tatar, sorrel, and grilled summer onions. The raw beef is slightly salted and contrasted with crunchy bits for added texture. A good dish for fans of beef tartare
Confit sweetbreads, new Danish potatoes, peas and smoked chicken broth. On the tasting menu, this is the first hot dish before the main course. The sweetbreads are clean tasting and perfectly fried. The small portion also makes you feel less guilty for the indulgent little bites
Poached turbot, fricassee of broad beans, pickled cabbage and summer mushrooms. If you choose the a la carte menu, you can select their larger main course dishes, such as this premium cut of turbot fish
Chicken from Allegaarden, grilled asparagus, morels and foamy mussel sauce. The dishes may change according to the season and availability from the kitchen’s local sources. While this is the main dish of the tasting, the whole tasting itself is delicious yet not overly indulgent and heavy

Leave Room for Dessert

Whether you have the nibbles, your a la carte selections, or the tasting menu, you must save room for dessert. The desserts feature seasonal fruits and leave you feeling happily satisfied with the whole dining experience.

Grilled Danish strawberries, long peber, and rosehip. A refreshing dessert featuring the fresh and tasty summer strawberries that are currently in its peak season in Denmark
Canneles with raspberry whipped cream. A must order for dessert. These little candles come out fresh and warm from the kitchen. They are crispy, chewy on the outside, and light and custardy on the inside – the perfect cannele and the perfect conclusion to the meal
