Hotel des Artists Ping Silhouette. Chiang Mai, Thailand

Affordable luxury with charm

Opened in June 2015, Hotel des Artists Ping Silhouette reflects the history of the Wat Gate neighborhood in Chiang Mai. The property tastefully blends history with clean modernity.

The small boutique four-star hotel houses nineteen rooms. Every corner is thoughtfully designed and decorated with Thai, French, and Chinese influences.

The Wat Gate neighborhood along the east side of the Ping River is known for its small shops, cafes, restaurants, and galleries.

The cafes and galleries attract a down-to-earth, cultured crowd seeking Instagram-worthy photos of their food and of the charming backdrops, including those at the Ping Silhouette hotel.

Café des Artists is the hotel’s coffee shop and dining room. The coffee shop draws inspiration from the old local merchant alleys that connected the street to the river in cafes and shops. The dining room, with an open terrace to the Willow Garden, offers beautifully presented Asian dishes.

The Rooms

The hotel offers three types of rooms. The Serene Room, 23 square meters, is perfect for solo travelers or couples looking for clean comfort.

The Willow Room, 32 square meters, is located by the hotel’s Willow Garden. The room comes with a private terrace complete with a day bed to enjoy the lush greenery and fresh air.

The River River, 37 square meters, comes with a balcony and views of the pool and Ping River. The rooms accommodate an in-room day bed and a bathtub in the spacious bathroom.

Hotel des Artists Ping Silhouette is an ideal accommodation for affordably fresh and simple luxury surrounded by local culture.

Hotel des Artists, Ping Silhouette. A clean, simple entrance to the small boutique hotel in the Wat Gate neighborhood
The landscaping. With views of the Ping River, the greenery on the property adds to the relaxing getaway atmosphere of the hotel
Another view of the hotel grounds. The landscaping contributes to the clean, simple, contemporary theme
The pool. Located above the Willow Rooms and with views from the balconies of the River Rooms. The pool is a perfect break away from the Chiang Mai crowds, and a beautiful location to take in sunset over the Ping River
View from the River Room balcony. The balcony is an ideal setting to take in the quiet atmosphere. It is also a great spot to see if the pool is unoccupied so you can run out and enjoy it all on your own (as my I did each afternoon, together with my best friend and a bottle of cold sake)
River Room. With twin beds, this is the largest room type on the property. The clean, modern look adds to the simple luxury and comfort. The small desk by the window is the perfect size for the room to accommodate a laptop or to take notes. Rooms with king beds are also available
The day bed adds further comfort and space to the room. And, the gramophone by the bed connects your phone to magnify the sounds from its speaker. This is the perfect spot to lay out for an afternoon break with music in the background while enjoying your air-conditioned room
Closet and room amenities. The closet is the ideal size for a short stay with a platform for your suitcase and enough hanging space for your clothes. A minibar is also available. The blue shelf provides the room with a complimentary coffee and tea set
Flat screen TV. The design adds to the clean look of the whole room. The bench can be used as a landing for your things or as a seat while getting dressed.
The bathroom accommodates two persons with two sinks and plenty of counter space. Toiletries are located in the drawers, with additional space for your things on the under counter shelves. The toilet is also separated by a door for privacy
Shower and Bathtub. The spacious shower contributes to the luxury, with a small bathtub to relax after a long day outside under the Thai heat. The bathroom also opens up to the balcony to take in some fresh air while soaking in the tub
Breakfast. The room rate includes breakfast for two. With your choice of an entrée, the set also includes fruit, salad, yogurt, toast, and a hot drink
Afternoon tea. On top of breakfast, the room rate includes afternoon tea in the Café des Artists coffee shop, located on the ground floor, consisting of a sweetened egg custard toast and a pot of tea
