Fiorella in San Francisco’s Outer Richmond

Down-to-Earth Neighborhood Dining at Fiorella

Beyond the city’s famous tourist areas, like Union Square, North Beach, and the Embarcadero, San Francisco’s neighborhood restaurants offer high-quality meals with down-to-earth dining experiences. In the unassuming Outer Richmond district, Fiorella serves amazing Italian Enoteca cuisine in a casual, relaxed, and truly local Bay Area atmosphere – complete with local celebrities drawn on the wallpaper.

Starters – Fritti, Crostini, and Antipasti

Neighborhood dining means you can relax and have a leisurely meal with family and friends. In food terms, that means beginning the meal with drinks and shared starters. The menu offers small plates to share fritti (fried bites), crostini (open-faced toasts), and antipasti (cold and hot appetizers).

Cured Anchovy Crostini with butter and lemon. If you are a fan of Spanish boquerones and anchovies in general, this is the perfect starter to bite into the meal. The tart tang of the cured anchovy opens up your appetite for the meal ahead
Wood Fired Octopus Antipasti with chickpea puree, pistachios, and olives. One of my favorite dishes of the night. Tenderly roasted octopus with exploding flavors from the chickpea puree and the saltiness of the olives along with crunchy textures from the pistachios

Wood-Fired Pizzas

You cannot go to Fiorella and not have at least one pizza – the specialty of the house baked in their prized wood-fired oven. The pizzas come out beautifully charred and with a delicious chew of the crust that you would expect from high-quality pizzas.

Salsiccia Pie with house-made sausage, fennel, provolone picante, fior di latte, oregano, and onion. You can a choice of classic pizzas, seafood pizzas, and pizzas with meat. Every pie comes out with the proper proportion of toppings that does not overwhelm the pizza dough

Pastas & Secondi

Aside from starters and pizzas, pastas and secondi courses more than satisfy and fill you up for the night. The pastas perfectly pair with the pizzas and the main course dishes proudly come out of the wood-fired oven.

Carbonara with pancetta, English peas, egg, black pepper, pecorino, and parmigiano. The pasta menu rotates according to season and popularity. This carbonara bowl is packed with garlicky and pancetta flavors. One critique is that the egg could be more emulsified as a sauce into the pasta noodles
Fusilli with Lamb Sugo with mint, chili, and a lemon. A surprisingly light dish with wonderfully fun and al dente pasta noodles. From the description, you would expect a heavy lamb sauce. However, the mint and lemon lighten up the bowl that you barely taste any game-flavored lamb and more a light meat sauce coating the long fusilli pasta
