Easy Shrimp Sandwich Recipe!

Satisfying Your Cravings at Home.

Sometimes the best way to satisfy your cravings is to make them at home, especially when you want a sandwich. Here is an easy shrimp sandwich recipe that you can whip up for a quick lunch at home:

Inspiration of the Recipe

Lobster rolls and crab sandwiches are most memorable and delicious summer treats. But, buying and shelling these kinds of seafood can get expensive and difficult when you just want a simple lunch at home.

Using the best lobster rolls and crab sandwiches as the inspiration here is an easy shrimp sandwich recipe that you can make at home in less than 30 minutes. This recipe stands out for two reasons. One, the shrimp filling is SO easy to make. And two, the winning factor is in how you’ll flavor the bread!

Easy Shrimp Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients
makes 1 sandwich

  • 5-6 Peeled shrimps
  • 1 portion of a soft baguette or sliced sourdough
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced>
  • Parsley, or a dried herb like thyme
  • 1/2 Roma tomato, sliced thinly
  • 1 Tablespoon Japanese mayonnaise
  • Pinches of salt & pepper to taste
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Lemon wedge (optional)

1. If you have frozen peeled shrimp, thaw about 5 to 6 pieces by placing them in a small bowl and soaking in tap water until soft. Fill a pot that can fit your steam basket with about 1 inch of water. Place the thawed shrimps in the steam basket and place that in the pot. Cover and turn the heat to high. Once steam begins to seep out of the cover, cook the shrimp for 2 minutes.

2. After two minutes, the shrimps will be cooked. You can gauge that based on the orange color and the fact that you will not see any translucent meat. Set aside shrimps in a clean, small bowl to cool

3. In another small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, parsley or dried thyme, a generous pinch of salt, and a small pinch of pepper. This is the garlic spread that will make the sandwich extra delicious.

4. Slice your baguette or layout the slices of sourdough. Evenly distribute the garlic spread onto the two open sides of bread. Place the bread on a quarter sheet pan. Toast the bread in a toaster oven on the highest heat for about 3 to 4 minutes or until the edges are just about golden brown.

5. While the bread toasts in the oven, get the sliced tomatoes ready. Then, add Japanese mayonnaise, a pinch of salt, and a smaller pinch of sugar to the cooled shrimps. Mix in well.

6. When the bread is ready from the toaster oven, place the sliced tomatoes evenly on the bottom bread. Tomatoes add a freshness to the sandwich and act as a protective layer from the creamy filling.

7. Then place the shrimps on the layer of tomatoes. While some people prefer to really stack up the filling of a sandwich, do not double stack the shrimps as they will just end up falling out each time you bite into the sandwich. Plus, this amount of shrimp in the sandwich perfectly balances and does not drown out the taste of the garlic bread.

8. Done! Garnish with a lemon wedge that you can squeeze onto the shrimps at the table. You can also make this recipe with large prawns, crab, or lobster if you have them readily available.
