Business Class to Guam on Philippine Airlines

Review of Flying Business Class to Guam on Philippines Airlines.

Every airline has a different Business Class experience depending on the route and destination. Here’s a review of Business Class to Guam on Philippine Airlines:

Flying from Manila to Guam

PR 110, 22:55 to 04:45
Duration: 3 hours, 50 minutes

Pre-Flight Experience

From to Manila to Guam on Philippines Airlines, you will depart from Terminal 2 in the U.S. Check-In Area on the right side of the international terminal. Before going to the counter, you will have a quick interview from a local agent regarding your reason for flying to the U.S. and then your luggage will be subject to a quick search.

After checking-in your luggage, you can proceed to Immigration and Security. Note that the Guam flight shares a boarding gate with other U.S. flights, such as to SFO and LAX. All of these passengers must go through the same line for an additional security scan of your hand-carry items as well as taking off your shoes.

If you are on Business Class and want to board among the first passengers, proceed to the boarding gate as soon as the previous flight completes their final boarding call.

In-Flight Experience

Business Class configuration is 2×2 with a total of 12 passengers. The seats are wide and comfortable, but the seat itself barely reclines and there is no leg rest which means while the feel of the seat is cozy it does not make for a good rest.

The flight lasts 3 hours and 50 minutes – note that Guam is 2 hours ahead of Manila. The meal offered includes a local choice (such as Aristocrat chicken and Java rice) or a Western choice. You can also opt to skip the meal and sleep, which may be better so you can arrive on Guam a little rested.

PR 111, 06:45 to 08:35
Duration: 3 hours, 50 minutes

Pre-Flight Experience

For information about what to expect at Guam International Airport for both arrivals and departures, read my previous article: What to Expect at Guam International Airport

In-Flight Experience

The aircraft from Guam to Manila is exactly the same as the aircraft from Manila to Guam as it is a turnaround flight. So the configuration and seat type will not change. The meal choices include a Filipino breakfast, an Asian meal, or a Western breakfast alongside a tempting basket of bread rolls and local pastries like ensaymada.

If you opt to sleep during the early morning flight, the cabin lights are dimmed. Tip: bring an eye mask for a more undisturbed rest.

Bottom Line: If you do want to fly Business Class, it is best to wait for a promotional rate as the full rate is definitely not worth the flight experience because of the lack of privacy of the seats’ configuration and the poor quality of sleep from the fact that the seat does not recline like other Business Class airlines with similar rates.
