First of all, there is actually no secret method for booking cheaper flights. Prices are constantly changing depending on the airlines, time of the year, passenger demand, competitor pricing, seasonality, major events, and so on. While there is no guaranteed formula or day of the week, there are ways that experienced travelers know how to book cheaper flights.
Have flexibility with your travel dates and flight schedule. Most airlines and booking websites offer a glimpse of the prices for the week or month showing the cheaper days and times of the day to fly. Also note that off-season (weekdays, non-holidays, non-school breaks) offer cheaper prices.
Base your trip according to the cheaper destination. Popular destinations tend to have expensive flight prices because of more people wanting to go there. Consider less popular, yet equally attractive and beautiful, cities which offer far more affordable flight rates.
Booking cheaper flights is not magic and it is not easy. The best way is to exhaust all the booking websites and possible airlines for your chosen destination and route. Try searching your preferred route via Google Flights. Also, track the offers and deals directly on the airlines’ websites. Finally, see if any of your credit card companies offer a limited-time promotion for airline deals.
Some airlines offer student discounts and senior discounts. You can avail of this and find out if these discounts are actually offered through your travel agent or by calling the airlines’ booking office.
Use your airline reward miles or credit card points to book a flight reward or flight upgrade. This also means having loyalty with one or two airlines so you can earn significant miles throughout the year.
Spam emails may be annoying to sort through each morning, but consider signing up for the newsletters from your preferred airlines. This way you will not miss out on the latest deals and promotions.
