While Melbourne is a fun place to explore, there are so many destinations outside of the city to enjoy and that are perfect for day trips – like a Yarra Valley wine tasting day trip. here are recommendations for how to get there and wineries that you can visit.
The best thing you can do on a wine tasting day is not drive yourself. There are many companies that offer day trip drivers and pre-planned wineries. Three Koalas is a great, more affordable options compared to others online. The van is clean, the owner/driver is friendly and so knowledge, and you’ll feel safe the whole time.
Quite often the best wine tasting experiences are from the smaller wineries where you get more attention and time with your wine tasting. Pimpernel is that place and the wines are excellent. Advanced reservations required.
For another small winery with impressive architecture and views, head to the tasting room of Oakridge. You’ll start to taste the differences between each of the wineries.
Domaine Chandon is the place to go for tastings of sparkling wines and also the place for lunch or a snack from small plates.
Another great option for a meal is at Hubert Estate. Note that many wineries offer coursed meals. Domaine Chandon and Hubert Estate have a la carte options making it easier for a more casual day of wine tasting. Come here for the food and wine, stay to enjoy the sprawling property and beautiful wine tasting room.
