Travel Constipation: Practical Tips for Relief

Tips for Dealing with Travel Constipation.

Whether you want to talk about it or not, travel constipation is a thing. It prevents you from fully enjoying your trip because you’re too backed up that it affects your meals and your mood. Here are 5 tips for how to find relief:

1. Hydration is Key

Water, water, water. Hydration is the number one key to relieving travel constipation. Drink a full glass as soon as you wake up (after brushing teeth, of course). And keep drinking water throughout the day. Note that on trips, it is best to consume bottled water instead of tap water.

2. Walk it Out

Staying active and walking help your bowel’s movement. Make sure you walk enough during the day, and if not, head to your hotel’s gym for a walk on the treadmill.

3. Fruits & Vegetables

Eat your fruits and vegetables. Have it at breakfast, or as a snack or dessert at the end of the night. Fiber, water, and movement all naturally relieve constipation.

4. Probiotics

For your stomach’s overall health and well-being, add probiotics to your daily supplements which can also contribute to constipation relief.

5. Laxatives

If travel constipation is really an issue, take laxatives. Take it at night after dinner with water, and make sure you don’t have a morning schedule so you can take your time in the bathroom.
