Classic Summer Side Dishes

Best & Most Iconic Summer Side Dishes!

Summer meals not only highlight classics like burgers and fried chicken, but it also is the season for all the refreshing side dishes! Here are some of the most classic summer side dishes:

1. Summer Salads

It’s time to enjoy the season’s best produce and make them into salads! Cucumber salads, tomato salads, corn salads! Or if you are more of the hands-on type, you can also snack on vegetable sticks and dip which is a common platter in most groceries.

2. Potato & Pasta Salads

Potato salads and pasta salads (both oil-based and with mayonnaise dressing) are indeed one of the most iconic summer dishes that pairs perfectly with grilled meats and barbecues. You can make large batches and it can serve a whole party – perfect for a relaxing cookout.

3. Chips & Dip

Chips and dip is an irresistible snack at any summer gathering. French onion dip is always a classic as is spinach dip. Then, there’s the crowd favorite tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole. Chips are best eaten with a cold drink in one hand.

4. Coleslaw

Much like summer salads, coleslaws are a staple for most summer meals. You can have it on the side, while some love it in their sandwiches and burgers. There’s also the alternative to coleslaw with sauerkraut or pickles.

5. Grilled Corn

Grilled corn screams summer. Especially with its sweet corn off the grill. If you don’t have a grill, roast corn or even steam corn can be equally delicious and delightful.
