Where to Stay in Melbourne and Sydney

Melbourne and Sydney are two of Australia’s top destinations, and of course, the cities have great accommodations for all preferences. If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member (and I highly recommend being a member to one or two hotel groups), you will have a great variety of choices for where to stay. Here are Melbourne and Sydney Hotel Recommendations:

Melbourne Hotels

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne

Opened in March 2023, the Ritz-Carlton is your first choice if you are looking for a top luxury hotel. It’s location near the Docklands makes it a convenient location to enjoy nearby restaurants and shopping.

W Melbourne

If you’re looking for a luxury hotel that has a young, fun appeal, W Hotels are for you. The hotel which opened in 2021 is ideally located in the heart of the the shopping area and really close to some great restaurants and bars.

Le Meridien Melbourne

If you want quiet luxury while still being well-located, Le Meridien is a great option, and it also opened in March 2023. Plus it has the convenience of being located near Parliament and some of the city’s top bars.

AC Hotel Melbourne Southbank

If you are in town for a convention, consider staying across the Yarra River and in the Southbank area where there are many great places to shop, sightsee, eat, and drink. AC Hotel Melbourne Southbank opened in 2022 and it is a great affordable option.

Sydney Hotels

W Sydney

Opening October 2023, W Sydney is located near Darling Harbour with easy access to the Central Business District Area. In fact, some of the city’s best restaurants and bars are mere blocks away.

Pier One Sydney Harbour, Autograph Collection

For a quieter, boutique luxury hotel, consider staying directly under the Harbour Bridge at the Pier One Sydney Harbour. Every time you step out of the hotel, you even get the enjoy views of the Opera House just across the way. Uber or taxi rides into CBD is just 10 minutes away.
