There are some trips when you just cannot avoid peak travel and all the crowds. Here are 5 tips for how to deal with crowded airports on peak travel days:
Most crowds are lined up at the airport check-in counters. Check-in online and print your ticket (or have your mobile boarding pass) ahead of arriving at the airport. This way you can head straight to the security line.
If you have luggage to check-in, look to see if your airport as Curbside Check-In – those lines are always shorter than inside the airport. If you really want to avoid the crowds, pack a carry-on to zip through the airport upon departure and arrival.
By knowing the TSA security procedures ahead of time, you will less likely get stopped during your screening process. Get to know the rules about liquids, electronics, and clothing accessories. Plus, taking out your belongings while in line can also save time once you get to the conveyor belt.
Your boarding gate will probably be crowded and most of the seats taken. Consider sitting at an empty boarding gate nearby while watching out for the boarding to begin.
Drown out the crowds and all their noise with your headphones or earbuds. Prepare your mobile device with downloaded music, podcasts, or shows. This not only takes away the annoying sounds nearby, but it also kills time while waiting.
