Chicken Soup for the Ultimate Comfort Food.

Whether it’s because of the cold weather or you need a bowl of hot soup to bring you comfort, here are chicken soup dishes from all around the world for a feel-good meal:

 

1. Chicken Noodle Soup

First, let’s start with the classic Chicken Noodle Soup. This is the go-to bowl of comfort because of the broth that sits easier on the stomach. Plus, there are health benefits from the protein from the chicken, carbs from the noodles, and nutrients from the vegetables.

 

2. Chicken Barley Soup

For those that don’t want noodles or are looking for adding fiber from whole grains, Chicken Barley Soup is a delicious alternative with the same soulful comfort.

 

3. Tinola

If you’re looking for Asian flavors in your soup, try a Filipino classic, Tinola. This soup boils chicken with onions, ginger, and fish sauce for natural bright flavors. Plus, it is balanced with vegetables from chili pepper leaves and green papaya.

 

4. Arroz Caldo

Arroz caldo, or lugaw, is another Flipino soup loaded with flavor and comfort. It is a rice porridge in which the chicken is cooked with the broth and rice as well as with ginger, garlic, and onions for such a flavor-filled soup.

 

5. Congee

While Filipino have lugaw, the rest of the world may be more familiar with the Chinese congee. It is a plain rice porridge in which you can add toppings for flavor and texture. For many, the is a breakfast staple to start the day with this warm comfort.

 

6. Pho

If it’s Chicken Noodle Soup you’re after, Vietnamese pho with chicken instead of beef is a delicious, lighter, and cleaner version that will really bring you comfort and satisfaction with all the added fresh herbs, lime juice, and spiciness.

 

7. Tom Kha Gai

To really clear up any nasal congestion, sweat it out with the spiciness and hot coconut milk broth of Thailand’s Tom Kha Gai. This bowl is packed with flavor and fresh herbs like kaffir leaves, lemongrass, and more.

 

8 Chicken Nabe

For the Japanese version of chicken soup, try the Chicken Nabe, also known as mizutaki or tori nabe. The broth flavored with dashi and the chicken and vegetables are added into the boiling broth.

 

9. Samgyetang

For Korean comfort, samgyetang is a most delicious chicken soup consisting of a whole chicken stuffed with ginseng. jujubes. chestnuts, garlic, and sticky rice. This is a common summer dish as the soup helps you sweat and in turn, cool down; plus the ginseng gives you natural energy during those sweltering hot days.
