Top 5 Food Moments in Japan & Hong Kong

Reposted June 29, 2020, as I currently crave for these meals and in hopes of sooner rather than later traveling back to Hong Kong and Japan safely.

In the span of 12 months, I traveled to Japan four times and Hong Kong five times. In no particular order because it was all equally amazing, here are my Top 5 Food Moments in Japan & Hong Kong:

Oysters for Breakfast in Numazu, Japan

Oysters, clams, and scallops steamed at your table. The best breakfast ever, paired with a cold glass of beer. This casual oyster restaurant by the Numazu Port specializes in steamed and grilled seafood, particularly these amazingly juicy oysters

Grilled Seafood Dinner in Numazu, Japan

If you love seafood, you will love eating along the Numazu Port. Start with a platter of sashimi while your seafood of the day grills right at your table. Oysters, clams, scallops, prawns, an amazing variety of fishes

Crab Sashimi in Sapporo, Japan

Crab sashimi. The sweetest sashimi experience I have ever had. Served over ice as it is tastiest and safest eaten cold, the crab legs are incredibly sweet, smooth, and creamy from the Hokkaido waters in Sapporo, Japan

Yakitori in Tokyo, Japan

Beautifully grilled chicken wings. Patience, care, and years of experience at this neighborhood yakitori joint makes this one of the best yakitori experiences of the year. The meat is perfectly cooked and tender, while the skin is gorgeously golden brown from the charcoal grill

Tikka in Hong Kong

Tikka from The Chinnery at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. The Chinnery serves upscale, classic British pub fare, and this Tikka is one of the most popular dishes. Hands down, one of the best places in Hong Kong for British-Indian cuisine
