2016 Travel Goals Completed

At the beginning of 2016, I challenged myself to travel at least once a month. At the end of the year, I traveled 11 out of the 12 months to 10 countries and 26 different cities. Those numbers include 2 trips to Boracay, 2 trips to Tokyo, 2 trips to San Francisco, and 5 trips to Hong Kong. Amazing destinations! It was truly a privileged 2016.

Typically, I share food, hotel, and sightseeing photos. As this is the last of my year-end recap, here are my favorite personal photos from my year of travels:

Lake Tanuki, Mt. Fuji, Japan

Taking in the absolute glory of Mt. Fuji on Lake Tanuki. My first adventure of 2016 was to Japan for a road trip to Mt. Fuji and the Shizuoka prefecture to bask in the perfect winter days, strawberry fruit picking, and a modern onsen ryokan experience

Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia

For something completely different from my usual city destinations and beach getaways, walking through the centuries-old history of Angkor Wat was incredible, and incredibly hot. For those wanting an adventure, Siem Reap is your destination

Caramoan Islands, Camarines Sur, Philippines

Some travel destinations land on my bucket list because of amazing new resorts, food origins, and in this case because of the show “Survivor”. As it was set in my home country for a few years in a row, I had to see it for myself. The castaway islands and Ponderosa are much closer than the show depicts, but the crystal clear waters and the surrounding nature are even more gorgeous and worth the journey

Hiking Goals

If I have an extra day and there are epic trails with incredible views, hikes are on my itinerary. Hiking up to the top of Caramoan Island and Filipino style in flip flops. The top of the island is a true birds-eye view of the surrounding islands
From the start of the year to the very end, my hiking goals were completely achieved for the year. After one year of planning and postponing, I finally conquered and completed the Dragon’s Back hike on Hong Kong Island. And while some photos are fancy, proud, and happy, this photo one captures my silly moments posing as Pocahontas on top of the mountain. Travel is all about having fun!
