All Nippon Airways Business Class, NRT to SJC

All Nippon Airways Business Class Review: Narita to San Jose.

All Nippon Airways remains one of the world’s best airlines because of the quality of their airplanes, comfort, cleanliness, and genuine service. Here is a detailed review of All Nippon Airways Business Class from Narita, Tokyo to San Jose, California:

All Nippon Airways Business Class: The Seat

Narita to San Jose on Flight NH 172 features the airline’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft in which there are 46 Business Staggered seats in the 1-2-1 configuration.

The best seats in the cabin are the odd-numbered rows which are right next to the window providing you with the most privacy and great views for take-off and landing.

Seat 5A in the last row of the first section of Business Class. Odd-numbered seats by the window are the best because they are right next to the window and farther from the aisle with the staggered configuration.

All Nippon Airways Business Class: The Amenities

Business Class passengers enjoy premium amenities including a mattress pad, comforter, and pillow as well as a luxury-brand amenity kit that they can take home.

Aside from what is provided in your seat, there are extra amenities with you can ask from your flight attendant or find them in the bathroom and galley. These include mouthwash, wipes, moisturizer, comb, and mask. You will also be given bottled water after the first meal service.

On your seat, you will find your pillow, blanket, mattress pad, and slippers. During takeoff and while you are not using them, you can store them in the footrest and landing under your monitor. The Japanese treat the flight as though it is a house – that means, shoes are removed as soon as you settle into your seat and you wear the provided slippers.

After settling into your seat, a flight attendant will come by with your amenity kit and also a welcome drink. This photo also shows your side table which is quite large and in these odd-numbered window seats provide extra space between your seat and the aisle.

Inside your Globe Trotter kit, you will have a toothbrush/toothpaste, eye mask, earplugs, and Japanese branded creams. Globe-Trotter is a premium British luggage brand that makes high-quality iconic luggage.

All Nippon Airways Business Class: The Meals

For the flights across the Pacific, Business Class passengers are offered two meal services. The first is a full dinner from amuse-bouche to dessert and the second is a lighter meal. You can pre-order the first meal online to guarantee your preferred choice, including special meals for dietary restrictions. The monthly menus are updated each quarter.

The menu offers a choice of a Japanese meal or an International meal. Both are conceived and curated by celebrity chefs from Japan and around the world.

Meal service begins with your choice of drink paired with an amuse-bouche. The extensive drink menu offers premium selections of sake, shochu, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks. Aside from the amuse bouche, you can also ask your flight attendant for Japanese rice crackers.

International Meal, Appetizer Course. The meal includes a set appetizer plate with bread and soup. The soup is the airline’s signature corn soup. When you see Japanese corn soup.potage, you must have it!

Main Course includes a choice of vegetarian, fish, or meat dishes. This is the vegetarian dish created by the chef of the famed French restaurant Ryuzu in Japan. Because of the multiple courses, the vegetarian option is a nice lighter choice especially before sleeping.

For dessert, you have a choice of two desserts, fruit, and a cheese plate. If you wish, you can request for all of it. The last course is paired with coffee, tea, or digestives.

The second meal is served at any time you request. A flight attendant will come around about an hour and a half before landing for final requests. Choices include snacks, Japanese breakfast sets, Ippudo ramen, and more. Note that the flight arrives into San Jose at 10:30 am, so you must also take into account the hours of rest you will need before your first full day in California. If you choose to sleep, you can press your Do Not Disturb button to slumber until landing preparations.

All Nippon Airways Business Class: The Entertainment

Compared to previous years, All Nippon’s entertainment selection has greatly improved with an up-to-date list of the latest Hollywood releases, Japanese, and international movies. You can download the ANA app before your flight and use your phone as a remote in-flight via the app. Note that the Sony noise-canceling headphones do not have the best noise-canceling feature, so if you are picky about it, it is best to bring your own.

Select aircrafts will have WiFi for a charge (about $22 for the full duration of the flight). Be sure to have your credit card information ready for the payment process.

Preparation for landing in San Jose, California. Tip: it helps to tuck away your blanket and pillow into the footrest in front of you. This also keeps your area nice and tidy. You can continue to sit on your mattress pad to have a comfort seat until arrival.
