A Review of Marunouchi’s Tokyo Imaiya

Tokyo is a city full of amazing yakitori and each restaurant has their own specialties to make it stand out. Here is a review of Tokyo Imaiya in Marunouchi:

About Tokyo Imaiya

Restaurants in Marunouchi cater to the business district office workers and their clients which means these restaurants must have a higher quality and nicer atmosphere than other districts.

Tokyo Imaiya has multiple restaurants around Japan, including the premier Marunouchi district. The restaurant proudly serves fresh and carefully selected high-quality chickens from the Akita prefecture as well as seasonal vegetables from all around Japan.

Aside from the chicken items on the menu, one of the best features of the restaurant is the wide variety of seasonal vegetables including this massive cut of fresh, raw cabbage to enjoy with sesame and miso sauces.

Chicken breast. This could be the most beautiful and succulent cut of grilled chicken ever. And yes, the crisp skin does help to tenderize the cut of meat. A delicious start to the night of grilled skewers.

The winning dish of the night. Chicken wings that are perfectly seasoned and grilled. While cooking technique makes the dish, it is also the clean, high quality of the chicken that makes each bite so enjoyable.

Chicken meatball served with an egg yolk as the dipping sauce. While this wasn’t the tastiest tsukune in Tokyo, the freshness of the egg yolk dip brought a beautiful umami flavor and texture of the meatball.

Chicken liver. Another enjoyable aspect to yakitori is the grilled offal and innards, like this perfectly cooked liver in which it comes out so creamy and smooth (as opposed to tough and dry).

The seasonal vegetables are equally a highlight of the meal. Take this mushroom, for instance, which looks just like a plain mushroom. And it is. But it is so juicy and delicious as the cooking pays the utmost respect in letting the ingredient shine all on its own.
