Why Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong is My Favorite Hotel

Without a doubt, the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong is my favorite hotel in the world. Luxury, cleanliness, detailed service, conveniences, and excellent food & drink. The hotel has it all.

In my years of staying at the Mandarin (and this year celebrates my 20th year as a Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong fan), I have stayed in 8 of their 16 room categories: Superior Room, City View Room, Statue Square View Room, Harbour View Room, Junior Suite, City View Suite, Statue Square View Suite, and Harbour View Suite.

My family and I stay at the Mandarin at least 3 times a year to enjoy the food and pampering five-star hospitality. Here is an updated look from my recent stays:

Suite Comforts

Every room and suite has been enjoyable and luxurious. The Statue Square View Suite and Harbour View Suite have been the most pampered stays thus far.

The sitting room of the Harbour View Suite. The floorplan of the suites are similar and the differences lie in the views and interior colors. The daylight from the harbour brings in extra lighting to the room during the day
Harbour View Suite bedroom. The suite stands out with bold red as the interior fabric. Insider tip: the hotel offers a pillow menu which you can ask from housekeeping. My preferred pillow is the Nasa Pillow, which is a memory foam pillow, that gives me the perfect night’s rest every time
The suite bathroom. The bathroom layout is even bigger than the bedroom, with the enclosed toilet, enclosed shower, his and her sinks, and the stand-alone bathtub. The luxury is in the spaciousness of the room
The Harbour View Suite bathroom. The best bathtub with the best possible view. My vote fro the #1 Best Bathtub in Asia. Read more about the bathtub experiences here

Amenities

The hotel amenities make your stay even more enjoyable. The scents of the shampoo, soap, and lotion, the extra toiletries, the coffees and teas, and much more.

Bathtub pampering with bath salts, a quality loofah, and Bottega Venetta shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. All that in this luxuriously grand bathtub with a view tempts you to stay in your room even longer
The toiletries are so complete you will only need to bring your preferred face wash and makeup kit. Every other detail is provided, even down to the stick of deodorant

Best Views

The hotel’s prime location in Central privileges guests to the best views of the city from within the heart of Hong Kong. On top of the views, the hotel has indoor and covered access to the MTR, Landmark shops, and all the way to IFC.

Harbour View Rooms and Suites have the best views in the hotel. This is your view from your Harbour View Corner Suite. From left to right, the view of Victoria Harbour is absolutely stunning
The next best view from the hotel is of Statue Square where you can watch locals and tourists walk and drive through Central. On Sundays and holidays, you can watch the seasonal festivities below, yet another reason why this is my favorite hotel

Offers

If you plan to stay at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, take a look at their Offers page where you will find seasonal discounts and packages for your stay.

Some offers include treats, such as this “Suite Family Affair Plus” of champagne for the adults and home-made treats for the whole family. Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong is a wonderful option for families, as the hotel takes extra effort to pamper your children and spoil them with gifts in the room
