Vera Pizza Napoletana Certified Pizza in Hong Kong

While there are multiple pizza restaurants in Hong Kong, Ciao Chow Italian Cafeteria is only one that has the Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN) certification from Naples, Italy proving that the pizzas are made with authentic ingredients and techniques.

Family-Style Italian Dining in Central Hong Kong

Ciao Chow Italian Cafeteria is located in the center of Central’s hippest street, D’Aguilar Street, in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong. The restaurant specializes in family-style Italian dining and they are proudly the only pizzeria making VPN certified pizzas. That certification requires a standard of ingredients and techniques in order to qualify.

While you should come for the pizzas, the menu also offers classic antipasti and pasta as well. Plus, the full bar offers an amazing selection of draft beers, Italian wines, and cocktails. On Sundays, the restaurant has a brunch buffet special for $280 HKD ($35 USD) plus $150 more ($20 USD) for unlimited drinks.

Upon entering Ciao Chow, you will walk through the open seating bar area. Tables are inside the restaurant with views of the open kitchen and pizza oven. During Sunday Brunch, guests choose their spread from the open kitchen
The best test of an excellent pizza is their Margharita. You taste the purity of the tomato sauce (which should not be acidic), the quality of the milky mozzarella, and the perfect chew of the crust
While Ciao Chow offers many other pizzas, if you want the best one, stick to the Margarita pizza. This prosciutto pizza looks great, but it is actually heavier than the margarita pizza because of the cheese underneath
The menu offers a selection of dry and fresh pasta. While the pasta itself was tasty with a nice bite, the coating of sauce and beef tasted rather starchy and one-note. Again, stick to the restaurant’s forte – the margarita pizza
