Cooking Class, Fruit Picking, and Ice Fishing

At the very least, every destination involves amazing eats. The standout trips include food experiences like cooking classes. Here are my Top 3 Food Experiences in Japan and Hong Kong:

Best Free Cooking Classes: Mandarin Oriental, Sanya

Inclusive with your nightly rate, guests are privileged with activities throughout the hotel, from the recreation center to the restaurant kitchens. Daily cooking classes are open to all ages to learn regional specialties, like Hainan chicken rice, dumplings, baos, and more. This is definitely a highlight for food lovers. Best Fruit Picking Experience: Shizouka, Japan

Japan’s tourism goes beyond the usual sightseeing. Locals and visitors can partake in fruit picking of seasonal varieties, such as strawberries in the winter and melons in the summer. Strawberry picking was so fun in January that I went back again in April for more. Read more about my experience here

Best Ice Fishing Experience: Hokkaido, Japan

The coolest (and coldest) food experience of 2016. It was not only fishing, but it was also the experience of the guides cooking the smelt fish in a tempura batter on the lake and eating it right there. Read more about the experience here
