Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech

Hotel Review

An oasis of absolute luxury

Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech

Marrakech has recently undergone a building boom with new hotels announced each year. In October 2015, Mandarin Oriental debuted their first African venture.

Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech immediately landed on the top lists of best new five-star hotels and resorts.

Moroccan heritage meets Oriental charm in this elegant, contemporary resort which exudes subtle refinement. Using natural and local materials, Moorish architecture with flat roofs house the Arabic, Berber, and Andalusian styles alongside contemporary touches.

The Location and Property

Just minutes away from the airport and city center, the property expands over an impressive 20 hectares, or 50 acres, of Moroccan desert-like land.

Within the property are landscaped gardens which are tended to daily, as well as olive trees, palm trees, and 100,000 rosebushes. Complementing the greenery are reflecting ponds and the resort’s main swimming pool, which can be heated when the weather cools.

The Facilities

A highlight of any world-class resort is the spa. The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech is over 1,800 square meters with international treatments, including 2 hammams, or Moroccan bathhouses.

Additionally, guests can enjoy yoga classes in the mornings, the property’s jogging trail, and even rent bikes. Golfers also have access to the golf clubs next door.

And like all incredible resorts, guests can feast on Moroccan and international cuisines. More on the dining experiences in the next posts.

Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech is a true oasis of luxury. You can stay at the resort the entire time and not feel like you are missing out not seeing the rest of the city.

The Suites and Villas

Likewise, after checking out of the resort on your departure day, guests are taken back to the airport via hotel car and receive the same VIP service for checking into the airport and access to the departure lounge.

With your arrival onto the property and to the main reception, you are immediately taken into this luxurious, contemporary Moroccan world which continually impresses from the service to the details in the room.

Every suite and villa offer guests indoor and outdoor experiences in their own private retreat.

The property offers:

Mandarin Pool Villa. Welcome home. You will certainly not want to leave this spacious luxury after tasting it for even just one or two nights. The side of the pool, Jacuzzi, and outdoor furnishings immediately greet you the moment you step past your gated door
Foodicles Mandarin Oriental Marrakech 5
There are two sides to your villa’s outdoor area: the pool-side and the sitting area. There is also a dining area, a shaded lounge, and an outdoor kitchen. During turndown service, the outdoor candles are lit to add to the romance and drama of the setting

Your outdoor pool furniture comes complete with towels, hats, slippers, and a pool bag. There is also an outdoor shower off to the side to rinse off from the pool

There are many options where to relax and enjoy your outdoor pool villa, whether under the sun or in the shade

The Moroccan heat is desert intense. This shaded lounge area is perfect to still get some fresh air while not burning under the heat

The other side of your outdoor pool villa. The sitting area takes in the pool during the day and fireplace at night. You also have a dining table to enjoy the resort’s In-Villa dining menu (more on that in the next posts)

You cannot have a house-like villa without a kitchen. Guests can enjoy the option of having a chef cook in their villa. The outdoor kitchen comes complete with a stovetop, oven, tagines, and plates. There is also a mini fridge below the coffee and tea station

The villa’s inside living room. Upon arrival, your coffee table greets you with fruits and sweets. By the mini bar and desk, there are raisins and nuts alongside complimentary bottled water. The sitting area’s daybed can convert to a bed at night if you have a 3rd companion

A private walk-in shower, a private toilet room, and the humongous bathtub. The success is in the details, such as the heated towel cart to enjoy fresh, warm towels – truly a pampered luxury
Foodicles Mandarin Oriental Marrakech 15
Another look at the massive tub and the vanity station. The bathroom comes complete with side tables for your toiletries or clothes and a lounge seat to assist you in changing clothes. This Mandarin Oriental property certainly has the eye for detail
Foodicles Mandarin Oriental Marrakech 16
The private toilet and bidet. The bidet even has a soap holder – a detail not found in many hotels. While on the toilet, you can continue to enjoy the property’s greenery while feeling secure with privacy of the villa’s walls
Foodicles Mandarin Oriental Marrakech 17
Walk-in closet. Of course there is a walk-in closet as well. The size is small considering the grand space of everything else in your villa, but it has enough space for your luggage and hanging clothes
Foodicles Mandarin Oriental Marrakech 18
There is also plenty of drawers and compartments should you wish to unpack your belongings during your stay
