Classic British with Tradition & Class

British history in the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong remains ever present in its traditions and hospitality. For classic British traditions in the form of cuisine, The Chinnery is your destination.

The Chinnery is my current favorite restaurant in Hong Kong as they serve hearty portions of the best fish & chips and curries. The cozy, intimate setting encourages guests to unwind and escape the crowds of the city.

Drinks at The Chinnery

With a classic lounge-like setting, drinking at The Chinnery is almost a requisite. Choose from cold draft beers poured into silver mugs, refreshing classic cocktails, an excellent wine selection, or a pour of your preferred premium liquor.

I love starting meals at The Chinnery with sips from their cold silver cup – whether beer from the draft or an ice cold cocktail. After a day out exploring Hong Kong, The Chinnery’s Mint Julep with bourbon and mint refreshes and opens up my appetite

Lunch & Dinner Menus at The Chinnery

The menu features classic British favorites prepared with that Mandarin Oriental quality and expertise. On occasion, selections will change while the most popular dishes remain, such as the Fish & Chips (without a doubt, the best fish and chips in town) and Tikka.

Each weekday, the “Roast Lunch Menu of the Day” features a classic roast. Wednesday’s Beef Wellington sets an incredibly high bar for all other beef wellingtons. The dining experience equally impresses during both lunch and dinner service.

Tikka. One of the most popular dishes of The Chinnery. Like all other dishes ordered, this butter chicken will set a high standard for how a great curry should taste. Aside from the Tikka, my new favorite curry at The Chinnery is the Madras fish curry made of the most premium cod
Each time you order a curry, the server will present this tray of condiments and sauces. Chutney, achar (spicy, salted pickles), mint yogurt, and peppers. Choose one, two, or all of the sauces. The spiciest are the achar and mint yogurt, while the sweetness of the chutney and peppers balance the bite
Calf’s Liver. Two massive cuts over creamy mashed potatoes. If you enjoy liver dishes, this is one of the best preparations of calf’s liver – perfectly cooked to the point of creaminess while tasting the clean quality of the liver itself
